We are happy to report that the K-Pop Festival in the Park was a great success. Though K-Pop is a relatively young phenomenon in the West, it is rapidly gaining traction and reaching much larger audiences, thanks in large part to someone like you as performers, fans, spectators, and sponsors. It was an inaugural event of its kind, and the theme was to celebrate traditional and modern Korean culture. The highlight of the day was the ‘2015 K-Pop World Festival SF Preliminary Competition.’ Ten teams were selected out of 31 applicants via online video submission and performed live on the stage at the Music Concourse. SoNE1 from UC Davis (1st Place) and XTRM from Sanford (2nd Place)’s videos will be entered into the World Preliminary Competition. There will be a total of 174 teams from 87 cities from all around the world. 15 finalists will be invited to perform live in Korea in October. Wish SoNE1 and XTRM the best to be selected as a finalist!
